Important Note

What's New


  1. Added support for Synology Active Insight, which provides an option for automatic delivery of diagnostic data to Synology Technical Support upon submission of a support ticket for a faster troubleshooting process. This option is configurable at DSM > Support Center.
  2. Added log entries for drive removal.

Fixed Issues


  1. Fixed an issue where the domain group list wasn't updated correctly.
  2. Fixed an issue where administrator users couldn't sign in to DSM after they reset their password by pressing the RESET button.
  3. Fixed an issue where all input fields across DSM were auto-filled with DSM account name if users had had Google Chrome remember their password with the Autofill function.
  4. Fixed an issue where Finder might stop responding when users search for content within mounted folders on macOS Big Sur 11.1 and 11.2.
  5. Fixed an issue where after users updated to DSM 6.2.4, iSCSI targets mapped with LUNs created on DSM 6.0 and before became offline and couldn't be enabled.
  6. Fixed an issue where signing in via 2-step verification generated an extra log entry.
  7. Fixed an issue where deleted files from the home folder couldn't be found in the recycle bin if deleted via SMB.
  8. Fixed an issue where there is a slight possibility that the SMB service might be shortly disconnected the moment users apply SMB setting modifications.
  9. Fixed an issue where backing up data on Windows using Windows Server Backup or other third-party software to Synology NAS might fail after users updated their Windows with updates released since April 2021.
  10. Updated the OpenSSL setting in response to new rules of Let's Encrypt certificates.
  11. Fixed an issue where there might be an incorrect IP conflict message for VLANs.
  12. Fixed an issue where DHCP settings of one network interface might be wrongly applied to another interface whose DHCP settings hadn't been enabled.
  13. Fixed an issue where CMS-managed servers might disconnect from a CMS Host that has been updated to DSM 6.2.4.
  14. Adjusted the LED indicator behavior for drive hibernation and deep sleep, making the LED status easier to distinguish on the following 15-series and 16-series models: DS916+, DS716+II, DS716+, DS416, DS416play, DS415+, DS415play, DS216+II, DS216+.
  15. Fixed an issue where the UPS server might not function properly after the system reboot.
  16. Refines the description for abnormal S.M.A.R.T test results and specifies the problematic S.M.A.R.T attributes.

  19. Fixed an issue where the fan couldn't resume in full speed mode after a system reboot on models with the V1000 platform.
  20. Fixed an issue where memory module error messages weren't displayed properly.
  21. Enhanced the system performance when there is a large number of concurrent connections.
  22. Fixed an issue where when the "Get user/group lists with NT4-compatible mode" option is enabled, domain users might not be able to sign in to Synology Contacts.
  23. Fixed an issue where 15-series and newer models couldn't hibernate when there is a system error, such as a storage issue and hardware malfunction.
  24. Adjusted the fan speed on SA3400 and SA3600 to fix a potential overheating issue when E10G18-T2 is installed.
  25. Fixed an issue where users couldn't expand the LUNs on ext4 volumes that are already mapped to iSCSI Targets.
  26. Adjusted the fan speed to fix a potential overheating issue when a Synology network interface card (E10G18-T1, E10G18-T2, E10M20-T1, E10G21-F2, E25G20-F2) is used as the Heartbeat connection in an SHA cluster or for Open vSwitch.
  27. Fixed an issue where the system couldn't retrieve the full name of domain groups correctly after users click "Update domain data".
  28. Fixed an issue where the status of domain users couldn't be displayed properly when the status is "lockout".
  29. Fixed multiple security vulnerabilities regarding Samba (CVE-2020-14318, CVE-2020-14323, CVE-2020-14383, CVE-2020-27840, CVE-2021-20277).

Auf der Synology DS415+ als auch auf der DS1019+ wird mir das noch nicht angeboten.
 
Vor allem klingt Version "6.2.4-25556 Update 2" ist nicht gerade danach, also ob bei der Version davor alles auf Links gedreht worden wäre. Da fragt man sich, was wurde denn bei Update 1 gemacht. :)
 
Das ist aber eine reichlich lange Liste von Fixes.

Mit schrägem und fiesem Blick auf @rednag wollte ich auf die Relasenotes erst antworten:
"Das sind aber viele Fixes... da kann ich mir gar nicht vorstellen, dass eine Syno gegenüber QNAP so stabil und toll läuft" :devilish: :p

Da das aber die ersten Releasenotes von Syno sind die ich lese und ich weiß, dass QNAP nicht alle Fixes in deren Releasenotes aufführt, habe ich doch erstmal die Klappe gehalten... 😘

Die Frage lässt sich kurz, bündig und ganz einfach beantworten - NIX! WEIL es nie ein Update 1 gegeben hat, AUSSER für 2 Synologymodelle damals und dies waren

für alle anderen Modelle ist das jetzige Update 2 das "erste" Update der Hauptversion DSM 6.2.4-25556
 
Aha. Und ich hab mich schon gewundert wo das "Update 1"bleibt. Wieder ein Rätsel gelöst. :)
 
Heute hat mich die Synology DS1019+ aktiv auf 6.2.4-25556 Update 2 hingewiesen.
Werde ich vermutlich am Wochenende erstmal auf der DS415+ installieren.
Wenn dort alles gut geht ziehe ich die DS1019+ nach.
Ich rechne zwar nicht mit großartigen Problemen, aber ich bin vorsichtig geworden.
Die einzigen Geräte welche hier wirklich auf aktuellem Patchstand sind ist die Fritzbox mit 07.28
(https://forum.heimnetz.de/threads/fritz-os-07-28.69/) als auch die Sophos Firewall mit 9.707-5.
Das andere Zeugs läuft nicht weg.

Die auf Stand zu halten macht Sinn. Aber auch hier wurden schon Updates zurückgezogen, bzw. kurz darauf der Flick zum Flick nachgeschoben. Auch hier empfiehlt sich ein kurzer Blick in die entsprechende Community. Diese Problematik hat weder Synology, QNAP oder ein andere NAS-Hersteller für sich alleine gepachtet. ;)
Für so etwas ist eine Testumgebung immer wertvoll.
Auch nicht zu verachten ist eine virtuelle Umgebung mit zuvor erstelltem Snapshot. Leider ist dies mit dem Syno so nicht möglich, oder? Also bleibt eben nur eine gute Backup Strategie und besten Falls ein Test-NAS (so wie sie hier bei mir stehen).
 
Du meinst einen Snapshot von der gesamten NAS? Das ist meines Wissens weder bei QNAP noch bei Synology möglich.
Und für eine Test-NAS habe ich nicht. Aber ich denke so Backup-technisch bin ich "relativ" gut aufgestellt.
Wobei ich hier auch mal aufräumen,- bzw. Ordnung reinbringen müsste.
Die Maschinen sichern sich über Kreuz, ein Teil intern, der andere Teil nach Google, wieder ein anderer Teil nach OpenMediaVault....
Bisher war ich zum Glück noch nie darauf angewiesen. Wenn es aber denn soweit ist, geht das panische Gesuche los. Ich kenn mich. :)

PS: Heute die DS415+ mit 6.2.4-25556 Update 2 beglückt. Sache von 5 Minuten, Probleme sind mir keine Aufgefallen.
Wobei sich das System erst noch beweisen muß. Wird 2x/Woche nächtens per Zeitplan hochgefahren, nimmt Backup entgegen und fährt 3 Stunden später wieder runter,

Genau das sollte eigentlich nicht sein. Aber bei mir ist es leider auch nicht anders, da ich nicht immer alles sichern will. Bei mir kommen manchmal Monate lang keine neuen Daten hinzu. Dann wieder jeden Tag. Wie will man dies mit einer Backupstrategie genau abbilden. Dazwischen wieder nur Backups vom System selbst, da ich keine Lust habe hunderte von Updates zu installieren. Aber ja ... zusammensuchen im Fall der Fälle.
 
Das interne Backup ist relativ schnell abgefackelt. Es wird 2x/Woche der gesamte Datenbestand von der Synology DS1019+ auf die DS415+ übertragen.
So ohne Versionierung und Gekrösel. Die reinen Daten auf die ich im Fall der Fälle auch ohne externe Programme zugreifen kann. Extern zu Google, OMV habe ich nur ausgewählte Ordner wo typischerweise Bewegung drin ist. Diese werden peridodisch alle 4 Stunden gesichert. Darin enthalten auch die Apps, Datenbanken, Mail,- und Webservereinstellungen.

So, eben DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 2 auf der DS1019+ installiert.
Sache auch hier von 5 Minuten. Anschließend noch ausstehende Updates von MariaDB 10 sowie phpMyAdmin gemacht.

ich halte es ganz ähnlich:
da ich wenig schnell wechselnde oder hinzukommende Daten habe, mache ich einmal monatlich ein backup der Datenbestände. Dabei werden diejenigen Systemzustände mitgesichert, die bei synology per Hyperbackup eben so gehen. Darauf verlasse ich mich aber nicht...
Ich bin seit 1,5 Jahren dazu übergegangen, für bestimmte IT Bereiche meines Hobbykellernetzwerkes Dokus anzulegen (also einmal Netzwerk, dann die diversen Pis mit Anleitung und Konfigstand, dann für die NAS mit usern, Rechten, firewall screenshots und Konfig usw).
Dahinter steht meine Auffassung, dass ein OS schnell wieder aufgespielt ist (die Daten sind ja mehrfach gesichert) und die Konfig dann auch recht schnell wieder fluppt (habe aber mein NAS auch vor allem für Filemanagement, nix eierlegendewollmichsau). Hab da mehr Vertrauen drin als auf die synology Lösung (und am Ende werden die Pakete eben doch nicht gänzlich mitgesichert oder nur manche).

Auf den NAS ist hier mittlerweile todesmutig DSM7 installiert. Bisher entgegen vieler armer Seelen keine negativen Erfahrungen damit gemacht... ;)
 
Meine 218+ soeben aktualisiert. Abgesehen davon, dass die USV neu verbunden wurde (keine Ahnung wieso) und mir natürlich DSM7 angeboten wird (verzichte), ist alles stabil.

Ich schau dann noch kurz auf die 1019+
 
Bevor ich DSM 7 installiere werde ich hier auch noch ein paar Releases abwarten.
Zumindest bis die ersten groben Schnitzer ausgebügelt sind.
 
1019+ (SHR1) ebenfalls erfolgreich. Hat einwenig gedauert - klar.
DSM7 liegt für mich in weiter Ferne 😎
Ich schau jetzt mal, was die 418play so meint ...

Die 418play hat mit fast 6min am längsten gebraucht (keine Ahnung wieso). Jetzt läuft (nach Wegklicken von Active Insite) wieder alles stabil. Superb!

Hmm, dachte DSM7 sei ein offizieller Release, also die fertige Version? In der Syno Gemeinde wird doch oft behauptet DSM habe so gut wie keine Fehler? ;) :devilish:
Habe DSM7 auf meiner DS720+ installiert, schon vor ... längerer Zeit. Läuft. Allerdings ist dies ein Testsystem. Auf der DS218+ (produktives System) ist ... keine Ahnung was da läuft. Wird vielleicht Zeit auf diese Version upzudaten. Klingt hier auf jeden Fall recht positiv.
