QuTS hero bekommt auch nochmal ein 4.5.4 Update, 5.0 ist dort momentan ja noch in der Betaphase:

Important Notes​

• QuTS hero does not support downgrading from h4.5.4 to h4.5.3 or earlier.

[Fixed Issues]​

• QuTS hero would block WebDAV client IP addresses if users tried to access home folders via WebDAV.
• Users occasionally could not transfer files to WORM (write once, read many) shared folders.
• QuTS hero would display an incorrect warning message about connection failure after users added the default gateway to a virtual switch and then restarted the NAS.
• QuTS hero occasionally could not take snapshots according to the snapshot schedule specified by users.
• Users could not start certain applications that were installed on a locked SED storage pool.
• After updating QuTS hero to h4.5.3.1698, users could not enable LUNs that were mapped to Fibre Channel port groups.
• Fixed a minor security issue.

[Known Issues]​

• iSCSI targets display incorrect status and cannot be deleted when iSCSI service is disabled.

[Other Changes]​

• Storage & Snapshots
• To ensure data security, system stability, and storage performance, the maximum number of drives for a single RAID group is now 16 (applicable to RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID TP, and subgroups of RAID 50 and RAID 60). Nevertheless, users can combine multiple RAID groups into a large storage pool that contains more than 16 drives, using RAID 50, RAID 60, or RAID 10 as the RAID configuration. This enhancement will only be applied to new RAID groups. All existing RAID groups and storage systems will not be affected.

Ich blicke da immer noch nicht durch.
Eine Konstante scheint auch nicht da zu sein.
Dachte QTS 5.0.0 wird dann für alle Geräte angeboten wenn es fertig ist.
Aber "Fertig" und "QTS" sind zwei sich gegenseitig ausschließende Wörter.

QuTS hero ist mit der Version bislang immer einige Wochen hinter QTS her. Beide OS sind also irgendwie separat zu betrachten.
Fertig ist Version 5 für beide nicht

Für mein altes TS1079 wird das QTS 5.0 leider gar nicht mehr angeboten.... Leistungstechnisch packt die Kiste aber sicher noch einiges!

Jemand eine Idee wie ich das trotzdem installiert bekomme?

Du könntest nach einem Gerät schauen, das eine ähnliche Hardware hat und das Update bekommt. Diese FW könntest Du per Recovery installieren und anschließend das QTS 5 auf den HDD installieren. Kann aber durchaus zu Problemen führen, auf eine sauberere Art ist das aber wohl nicht möglich.

Auf https://www.qnap.com/de-de/product/ts-1079 pro macht es zumindest aber den Eindruck als könnte man das Gerät noch kaufen.
Aber EoL ist mit 12-2020 angegeben.

Der hier sagt dass seit 2018 und 4.3.6 Feierabend ist mit Updates. 12 2020 ist nicht das EOL Datum sondern Feierabend mit Support

tjaaaa vielleicht wird es doch ein UNRAID
